New MAVO members. Annual dues are $60. Registration opens June 1, and dues increase on July 1.
Registrations for new members close by mid August. Please don't wait that long, however. Our assignors need to know well in advance so they can include you in the assigning process.
For Downeast officials, also join Downeast Volleyball Officials Association (DVOA). $20 new member fee. Contact Stu Marckoon for more DVOA information at stu.marckoon@gmail.com
In order to officiate high school sports in Maine, you must become a dues-paying member of the NFHS, and register with them through their platform called, "Dragonfly Athletics." The annual dues are $35. You cannot take your NFHS volleyball exam until you have paid your dues to the NFHS. The exam is on the Dragonfly Athletics website.
$15 application fee. $55 fingerprinting fee. These are both valid for five years. MAVO will not be able to assign any official until they have completed this step.
In order to be able to receive assignments, MAVO members must be registered with The Arbiter; an online company that provides software for assigning, and other benefits for offials.
MAVO has two regional NFHS assignors who can help with this:
Western Maine (David Carson - mavoassignor@aol.com);
Downeast (Sheridan Davis - dsldavis@hotmail.com).
